On the authority of ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A screen will be placed between the eyes of the jinn and the ‘awrah of the sons of Adam when one of them enters the toilet, if he says ‘Bismillah (in the name of Allah).”[Sunan al-Tirmidh 606]

On the authority of Anas (رضي الله عنه): “Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) (intended) to enter Al-kha-la (An empty place, used to answer the call of nature, i.e., the bathroom)” he would say: “Allahum-ma In-nee A’oo-dhu Bi-ka mi-nal khu-bu-thi wal-kha-ba-ith.”[Al-Bukhari no. 142 and Muslim, no. 375]

On the authority of Zayd ibn Arqam (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “These toilets are visited (by jinn), so when any one of you goes to the toilet, let him say, ‘Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min al-khubthi wa’l-khabaa’ith (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from evil and from the male and female devils).”[Abu Dawood 6 and Ibn Maajah 296]
