• Preservative (Potassium Sorbate): Potassium sorbate is a chemical additive naturally found in a variety of fruits. It is considered vegan.

• Flavorings Including Caffeine: Caffeine is often sourced from plants. It is halal and permissible to consume.

• Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K): Acesulfame potassium is a mineral salt that contains no animal ingredients. In most cases, aspartame is also suitable for halal people. Some aspartame products contain lactose.

• A Source of Phenylalanine: This essential amino acid is found in a variety of vegan-friendly foods.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymin said: The basic principle concerning all kinds of food, drink and clothing is that they are permissible until and unless proof is established that they are haram. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“He it is Who created for you all that is on earth” [Quran: Surah al-Baqarah 2:29]

So if something is haram, there should be a clear and detailed indication that it is haram. If there is no such proof, then it is not haram.
