Dua For After Eating In Arabic
The Dua after eating a meal in Arabic Text is:
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا، وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
Al-Hamdu lillahi Alladhi atamani hadha wa razaqanihi min ghairi hawli minni wala quwwata.
Dua For After Eating In English
Praise is to Allah, Who has provided me this food and sustained me with it while I have not any power or might.
There are many hadiths that prove that after a meal, the individual should give thanks to Allah and praise Him, and free Allah from all imperfections.
He should say the above supplication.
Benefits Of Dua After Eating
If not that Allah the Exalted made this food easy for you, you would not have obtained it as He, the Mighty and Sublime – said:“
Tell Me! The seed that you grow in the ground, is it you that makes it grow, or are We the Grower? Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment). (Saying): ‘We are indeed Mughramun (that is, ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, and so on)! Nay, but we are deprived.”
If not that Allah made the food easy for the individual from the time the seed was sown, and then it germinated and was harvested and later brought to him, milled, kneaded, and then baked and made easy for him to eat, it would not have been easy for him.
As such, some scholars say:
Food would not reach the individual and served to him unless it was preceded by a hundred favours from Allah upon the food.
But most times, we are oblivious of this great fact.We beseech Allah to provide us and you with lawful food, and to endow us with gratitude for His favors, certainly He is Able to do all things.
Regarding his saying,
“Ghayra mukafi wala mustagni anhu Rabbana (meaning: not having been sufficient nor adequate in it, O Lord!)”, i.e., we certainly cannot be independent of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and no one can suffice us except Him, and He, free is He from all imperfections, is the Provider, the Mighty and Sublime.
How Do You Thank Allah After Eating?
Thanking Allah Ta’aala is very important, and we should do this regularly. Interestingly, our amazing prophet SAW has taught us different dua to praise for the end of almost every action.
Food and drink are greatest blessings from Our Merciful Allah which deserves Praise and Glorify to Him.
الْحَمْدُ لله الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا، وَسَقَانَا، وَجَعَلَنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
Alhamdulilahil ladhee at’amana, wasaqana, waja’alana Muslimeen
Meaning In English
All Praise be to Allah Who has fed us and given us drink and made us Muslims.
Benefits of this Dua
By praising Allah subhanahu wata’ala we gain His pleasure.
We are thanking Allah subhanahu wata’ala In this dua for not one, but three blessings.
- The first is for the blessing of Islam, being a Muslim is truly a blessing.
- The second is for the blessings of food.
- And the third is for the blessing of water and drink granted to us.
A daily reminder that though food and drink are important, it is Islam that is most important.
The more we will thank Allah Ta’aala, the more Allah Ta’aala will give us.
Matters Related To Eating In Islam
- Firstly: If the individual fails to mention Allah’s Name over his meal, the Satan will eat along with him according to the hadeeth of Umayyah bin Makhshiy, may Allah be pleased with him, that, a man ate food without mentioning Allah’s Name.
When it remained a morsel left, as if he then remembered, he mentioned the Name of Allah – the Exalted.
The Prophet SAW laughed and informed that the Satan was eating with him, but when the man mentioned Allah’s Name, Satan vomited what he had eaten.
And this is among the Favors of Allah – and free is He from all imperfections and Exalted -, that the satan becomes prevented from participating in our meal if we mention Allah’s Name at the beginning.
Likewise if we mentioned at the end and say,
“Bismillahi awwalahu wa akhirahu (I mention Allah’s Name for the beginning and end.” He will vomit whatever he had eaten and will be prevented therefrom.
- Secondly, they contain proof that the Satan eats, bearing in mind that he ate from the food – and he actually did eat.
So, the satan eats and drinks and participates along with the eating and drinking persons if such fails to give remembrance of Allah’s Name over the food and drink.
- Thirdly: the hadeeth of A’aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, stated that the Prophet SAW was once eating along with six of his companions.
A Bedouin suddenly joined them and finished whatremained in just two morsels.
Perhaps he was very hungry, and Allah Knows best.
The Prophet SAW said, “Listen; if he had mentioned Allah’s Name, it would have sufficed you all.” Unfortunately, he did not.
He ate the remainder with just two morsels and yet, it did not suffice him.
This shows that if the individual failed to say Allah’s Name blessings are removed from the food; because the Satan will certainly eat with him and the meal he thought should be okay for him will not suffice him because the blessings would be taken away from it.
Allah alone grants success.
