7 Hadith About Women In English And Arabic

These hadith about women cover the preceding theme of kindness to the weak, orphans, girls, and the likes. That is, exhortation to be kind to them and fear Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, regarding them because they are deficient and in need of a supporter to complete their affairs for them.

The Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, advised women kindly, and these hadiths are mentioned in this regard.

1. Hadith

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt (trouble) his neighbor. And I advise you to take care of the women, for they are created from a rib and the most crooked portion of the rib is its upper part; if you try to straighten it, it will break, and if you leave it, it will remain crooked, so I urge you to take care of the women.”

2. Hadith

The Prophet is with those who protect women

Anas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever has three daughters, or three sisters, and he fears Allah regarding them and cares for them, he will be with me in Paradise like this,” and he held up his two fingers.

3. Hadith

Allah enjoins goodness to women, family members

Al-Miqdam ibn Ma’dikarib reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah enjoins you to be good to women. Verily, Allah enjoins you to be good to women, for they are your mothers, your sisters, and your aunts.”

4. Hadith

Anas reported: The Prophet SAW said, “Whoever supports two girls till they attain maturity, he and I will come on the Day of Resurrection like this.” Messenger of Allah M joined his fingers illustrating this. [Muslim]

This Hadeeth illustrates the excellence of supporting ones’ daughters because girls are minors, weak and despised.

Usually, her family does not take interest in her or show any concern for her. Hence, the Prophet SAW said: ‘Whoever supports two girls until they attain maturity, he and I will come on the day of resurrection like this’.

Then the Messenger of Allah SAW joined two of his fingers- the forefinger and the middle finger. The meaning of that is that he will be a companion to the Messenger of Allah SAW in Paradise for supporting two girls; that is, two daughters, two sisters, or others.

He will be with the Prophet SAW in Paradise and he SAW exemplified this by joining two of his fingers.

5. Hadith

Amr bin Al-Ahwas Al-Jushami reported that he had heard the Prophet SAW saying on his Farewell Pilgrimage, after praising and glorifying Allah and admonishing people, “Treat women kindly, they are like captives in your hands; you do not owe anything else from them.

In case they are guilty of open indecency, then do not share their beds and beat them lightly but if they return to obedience, do not have recourse to anything else against them.

You have rights over your wives and they have their rights over you. Your right is that they shall not permit anyone you dislike to enter your home, and their right is that you should treat them well in the matter of food and clothing.”

6. Hadith Ungrateful Woman

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: Once Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) ofId-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, “O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women).”

They asked, “Why is it so, O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) ?” He replied, “You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.”

The women asked, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?” He said, “Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?”

They replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn’t it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?” The women replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her religion.”

7. Hadith

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful.” It was asked, “Do they disbelieve in Allah?” (or are they ungrateful to Allah?)

He replied, “They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, ‘I have never received any good from you.”

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ “‏ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلاَ يُؤْذِي جَارَهُ ‏”‏‏.‏ وَاسْتَوْصُوا بِالنِّسَاءِ خَيْرًا فَإِنَّهُنَّ خُلِقْنَ مِنْ ضِلَعٍ وَإِنَّ أَعْوَجَ شَيْءٍ فِي الضِّلَعِ أَعْلَاهُ فَإِنْ ذَهَبْتَ تُقِيمُهُ كَسَرْتَهُ وَإِنْ تَرَكْتَهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ أَعْوَجَ فَاسْتَوْصُوا بِالنِّسَاءِ خَيْرًا

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏”‏ أُرِيتُ النَّارَ فَإِذَا أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِهَا النِّسَاءُ يَكْفُرْنَ ‏”‏‏.‏ قِيلَ أَيَكْفُرْنَ بِاللَّهِ قَالَ ‏”‏ يَكْفُرْنَ الْعَشِيرَ، وَيَكْفُرْنَ الإِحْسَانَ، لَوْ أَحْسَنْتَ إِلَى إِحْدَاهُنَّ الدَّهْرَ ثُمَّ رَأَتْ مِنْكَ شَيْئًا قَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْكَ خَيْرًا قَطُّ ‏”‏‏.‏
