Meaning in English
- (Musa) said: “O my Lord! expand me my breast;
- Ease my task for me;
- And remove the impediment from my speech,
- So they may understand what I say:
- And give me a Minister from my family,
- Aaron, my brother;
- Add to my strength through him,
- And make him share my task:
- That we may celebrate Thy praise without stint,
- And remember Thee without stint:
- For Thou art He that (ever) regardeth us.”
After reminding and fortifying Musa (AS) for the impending task, Allah gave the order:
“Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.”Surah Taha
It was then that Musa (AS) made the dua recited by scholars and speakers before giving a speech.
2. Dua of Musa Surah Qasas
There are some Duas made by prophet Musa AS in surah Qasas, the Duas are mentioned in different verses.
1. Surah Qasas verse 21
My Lord! Save me from the people who are wrongdoers!
According to Imam IBN Kathir, this means, from Fir`awn and his chiefs.
It was mentioned that Allah sent to him an angel riding a horse, who showed him the way. And Allah knows best.
2. Surah Qasas verse 16
Qala rabbi innee thalamtu nafsee faghfir lee faghafara lahu innahu huwaal ghafooruarraheem.
Meaning in English
He said: “My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, so forgive me.” Then He forgave him. Verily, He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
This is supplication When prophet Musa Killed a Man by Mistake.
Prophet Musa made this very simple dua from the heart, which Allah (swt) accepted.
Allah accepted his dua, its evidence being the statement of Allah in the latter half of the same ayah:
“…and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
3. Surah Qasas Ayat 17
Qala rabbi bima an amta alayya falan akoona thaheeran lilmujrimeen.
He said: “My Lord! For that with which You have favoured me, I will never more be a helper of the Mujrimûn (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners)!”
3. Dua of Musa Rabbi inni lima anzalta
Rabbi inni lima anzalta is a Dua made by prophet Musa and is mentioned in surah Qasas verse 24.
Rabbiinnee lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeer.
My Lord! truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!”
4. Dua of Musa Against Pharaoh
And Mûsâ (Moses) said: “Our Lord! You have indeed bestowed on Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of this world, our Lord! that they may lead men astray from Your Path. Our Lord! Destroy their wealth, and harden their hearts, so that they will not believe until they see the painful torment.”
Musa supplicated against Fir`awn and His Chiefs
This prayer was from Musa because he was angry for the sake of Allah and His religion. He prayed against Fir`awn and his chiefs when he was certain that there was no good in them.
Allah mentioned what Musa said when he prayed against Fir`awn and his chiefs after they refused to accept the truth. They continued to go astray and be haughty and arrogant.
And Musa said:”Our Lord! You have indeed bestowed on Fir`awn and his chiefs splendor (and pleasure of this worldly life).
