Surah Hashr Transliteration, Arabic, And Translation In English

Surah hashr is the 59th chapter of the Holy Qur’an and is composed of 24 verses. The chapter is named al-hashr because the word hashr, meaning ‘exile’ or ‘banishment’, appears in verse 2.

• بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
• 1. سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
• 2. هُوَ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ لِأَوَّلِ الْحَشْرِ ۚ مَا ظَنَنْتُمْ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا ۖ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ مَانِعَتُهُمْ حُصُونُهُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ فَأَتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَمْ يَحْتَسِبُوا ۖ وَقَذَفَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الرُّعْبَ ۚ يُخْرِبُونَ بُيُوتَهُمْ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَيْدِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَاعْتَبِرُوا يَا أُولِي الْأَبْصَارِ
• 3. وَلَوْلَا أَنْ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْجَلَاءَ لَعَذَّبَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابُ النَّارِ
• 4. ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ شَاقُّوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۖ وَمَنْ يُشَاقِّ اللَّهَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
• 5. مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً عَلَىٰ أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَلِيُخْزِيَ الْفَاسِقِينَ
• 6. وَمَا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ مِنْهُمْ فَمَا أَوْجَفْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ خَيْلٍ وَلَا رِكَابٍ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُسَلِّطُ رُسُلَهُ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
• 7. مَا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَىٰ فَلِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِي الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ كَيْ لَا يَكُونَ دُولَةً بَيْنَ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ مِنْكُمْ ۚ وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
• 8. لِلْفُقَرَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَأَمْوَالِهِمْ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانًا وَيَنْصُرُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الصَّادِقُونَ
• 9. وَالَّذِينَ تَبَوَّءُوا الدَّارَ وَالْإِيمَانَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ يُحِبُّونَ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ حَاجَةً مِمَّا أُوتُوا وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ ۚ وَمَنْ يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِهِ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ
• 10. وَالَّذِينَ جَاءُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ
• 11. أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِينَ نَافَقُوا يَقُولُونَ لِإِخْوَانِهِمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَئِنْ أُخْرِجْتُمْ لَنَخْرُجَنَّ مَعَكُمْ وَلَا نُطِيعُ فِيكُمْ أَحَدًا أَبَدًا وَإِنْ قُوتِلْتُمْ لَنَنْصُرَنَّكُمْ وَاللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ
• 12. لَئِنْ أُخْرِجُوا لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مَعَهُمْ وَلَئِنْ قُوتِلُوا لَا يَنْصُرُونَهُمْ وَلَئِنْ نَصَرُوهُمْ لَيُوَلُّنَّ الْأَدْبَارَ ثُمَّ لَا يُنْصَرُونَ
• 13. لَأَنْتُمْ أَشَدُّ رَهْبَةً فِي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ
• 14. لَا يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ جَمِيعًا إِلَّا فِي قُرًى مُحَصَّنَةٍ أَوْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ جُدُرٍ ۚ بَأْسُهُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ شَدِيدٌ ۚ تَحْسَبُهُمْ جَمِيعًا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ شَتَّىٰ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
• 15. كَمَثَلِ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ قَرِيبًا ۖ ذَاقُوا وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
• 16. كَمَثَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ إِذْ قَالَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ اكْفُرْ فَلَمَّا كَفَرَ قَالَ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِنْكَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ اللَّهَ رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ
• 17. فَكَانَ عَاقِبَتَهُمَا أَنَّهُمَا فِي النَّارِ خَالِدَيْنِ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ الظَّالِمِينَ
• 18. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلْتَنْظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ ۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
• 19. وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ نَسُوا اللَّهَ فَأَنْسَاهُمْ أَنْفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ
• 20. لَا يَسْتَوِي أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ وَأَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ۚ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمُ الْفَائِزُونَ
• 21. لَوْ أَنْزَلْنَا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ عَلَىٰ جَبَلٍ لَرَأَيْتَهُ خَاشِعًا مُتَصَدِّعًا مِنْ خَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَتِلْكَ الْأَمْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
• 22. هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ ۖ هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ الرَّحِيمُ
• 23. هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
• 24. هُوَ اللَّهُ الْخَالِقُ الْبَارِئُ الْمُصَوِّرُ ۖ لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Below is the transliteration of sura hashr.

• 1. Sabbaha lillaahi maa fissamaawaati wa maa fil ardi wa Huwal ‘Azeezul Hakeem
• 2. Huwal lazeee akharajal lazeena kafaroo min ahlil kitaabi min diyaarihim li awwalil Hashr; maa zanantum any yakhrujoo wa zannooo annahum maa ni’atuhum husoonuhum minal laahi faataahumul laahu min haisu lam yahtasiboo wa qazafa fee quloobihimur ru’ba yukhriboona bu yootahum bi aydeehim wa aydil mu’mineena fa’tabiroo yaaa ulil absaar
• 3. Wa law laaa an katabal laahu ‘alaihimul jalaaa’a la’azzabahum fid dunyaa wa lahum fil Aakhirati ‘azaabun Naar
• 4. Zaalika bi annahum shaaqqul laaha wa Rasoolahoo wa many yushaaaqqil laaha fa innal laaha shadeedul-‘iqaab

• 5. Maa qata’tum mil leenatin aw taraktumoohaa qaaa’imatan’alaaa usoolihaa fabi iznil laahi wa liyukhziyal faasiqeen
• 6. Wa maaa afaaa’al laahu ‘alaaa Rasoolihee minhum famaaa awjaftum ‘alaihi min khailiinw wa laa rikaabinw wa laakinnal laaha yusallitu Rusulahoo ‘alaa many yashaaa’; wallaahu ‘alaa kulli shai’in Qadeer
• 7. Maaa afaaa’al laahu ‘alaa Rasoolihee min ahlil quraa falillaahi wa lir Rasooli wa lizil qurbaa wal yataamaa walmasaakeeni wabnis sabeeli kai laa yakoona doolatam bainal aghniyaaa’i minkum; wa maaa aataakumur Rasoolu fakhuzoohu wa maa nahaakum ‘anhu fantahoo; wattaqul laaha innal laaha shadeedul-‘iqaab

• 8. Lilfuqaraaa’il Muhaaji reenal lazeena ukhrijoo min diyaarihim wa amwaalihim yabtaghoona fadlam minal laahi wa ridwaananw wa yansuroonal laaha wa Rasoolah; ulaaa’ika humus saadiqoon
• 9. Wallazeena tabawwa’ud daara wal eemaana min qablihim yuhibboona man haajara ilaihim wa laa yajidoona fee sudoorihim haajatam mimmaa ootoo wa yu’siroona ‘alaa anfusihim wa law kaana bihim khasaasah; wa many yooqa shuhha nafsihee fa ulaaa’ika humul muflihoon
• 10. Wallazeena jaaa’oo min ba’dihim yaqooloona Rabbanagh fir lanaa wa li ikhwaani nal lazeena sabqoonaa bil eemaani wa laa taj’al fee quloobinaa ghillalil lazeena aamanoo rabbannaaa innaka Ra’oofur Raheem

• 11. Alam tara ilal lazeena naafaqoo yaqooloona li ikhwaanihimul lazeena kafaroo min ahlil kitaabi la’in ukhrijtum lanakhrujanna ma’akum wa laa nutee’u feekum ahadan abadanw-wa in qootiltum lanansuran nakum wallaahu yashhadu innahum lakaaziboon
• 12. La’in ukhrijoo laa yakhrujoona ma’ahum wa la’in qootiloo laa yansuroonahum wa la’in nasaroohum la yuwallunnal adbaara summa laa yunsaroon
• 13. La antum ashaddu rahbatan fee sudoorihim minal laah; zaalika bi annahum qawmul laa yafqahoon
• 14. Laa yuqaatiloonakum jamee’an illaa fee quram muhas sanatin aw minw waraaa’i judur; baasuhum bainahum shadeed; tahsabuhum jamee’anw-wa quloobuhum shatta; zaalika biannahum qawmul laa ya’qiloon

• 15. Kamasalil lazeena min qablihim qareeban zaaqoo wabaala amrihim wa lahum ‘azaabun aleem
• 16. Kamasalish shaitaani izqaala lil insaanik fur falammaa kafara qaala innee bareee’um minka inneee akhaaful laaha rabbal ‘aalameen
• 17. Fakaana ‘aaqibatahumaaa annahumaa fin naari khaalidaini feehaa; wa zaalika jazaaa’uz zaalimeen
• 18. Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanut taqul-laaha; waltanzur nafsum maa qaddamat lighadiw wattaqual laah; innal laaha khabeerum bimaa ta’maloon
• 19. Wa laa takoonoo kallazeena nasul laaha fa ansaahum anfusahum; ulaaa’ika humul faasiqoon
• 20. Laa yastaweee as-haabun naari wa ashaabul jannah; as haabul jannati humul faaa’izoon.

• 21. Law anzalnaa haazal quraana ‘alaa jabilil lara aytahoo khaashi’am muta saddi’am min khashiyatil laah; wa tilkal amsaalu nadribuhaa linnaasi la’allahum yatafakkaroon
• 22. Huwal-laahul-lazee laaa Ilaaha illaa Huwa ‘Aalimul Ghaibi wash-shahaada; Huwar Rahmaanur-Raheem
• 23. Huwal-laahul-lazee laaa Ilaaha illaa Huwal-Malikul Quddoosus-Salaamul Muminul Muhaiminul-‘aAzeezul Jabbaarul-Mutakabbir; Subhaanal laahi ‘Ammaa yushrikoon
• 24. Huwal Laahul Khaaliqul Baari ‘ul Musawwir; lahul Asmaaa’ul Husnaa; yusabbihu lahoo maa fis samaawaati wal ardi wa Huwal ‘Azeezul Hakeem.

Surah Hashr in English Translation

• 1. All that is in the heavens and all that is on earth glorifies Allah, for He is the Almighty, Most Wise.
• 2. It is He Who drove the disbelievers among the People of the Book from their homes at the time of the first banishment. You [O believers] did not think that they would leave, and they thought that their fortresses would protect them from Allah. But the decree of Allah came upon them from a direction they did not expect and He cast dread into their hearts. Their houses were destroyed by their own hands and the hands of the believers. So learn from this, O people of insight.
• 3. And were it not that Allah had decreed exile for them, He would surely have punished them in this world. And in the hereafter theirs will be the punishment of the fire.

• 4. That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger, and whoever opposes Allah, Allah is indeed severe in punishment.
• 5. Whatever you have cut down of their palm trees or left standing intact, it was by Allah’s leave, so that He might confound the evildoers.
• 6. Whatever gains Allah has bestowed upon His Messenger from them, you did not spur on either horses or camels for that. But Allah gives power to His Messengers over whomever He wills, and Allah has power over all things.
• 7. Whatever gains Allah has bestowed upon His Messenger from the people of the towns belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and to his close relatives, orphans, those in need and wayfarers, so that wealth does not circulate only among those of you who are rich. Whatever the Messenger gives you [of the gains, or of instructions], accept it, and whatever he forbids to you, refrain from it. And fear Allah, for verily Allah is severe in punishment.

• 8. It is for the poor Muhajiroon who have been driven from their homes and property, seeking grace from Allah and His good pleasure, and helping the cause of Allah and His Messenger. It is they whose faith is true.
• 9. And those who were already settled in the land [of Madinah] before them, and were sincere in faith, love the Migrants who came to them, and find no covetous desire in their hearts for what they have been given. Rather they give them preference over themselves, even if they too are poor. Those who are protected from their own covetousness – it is they who will be the successful ones.
• 10. And those who come after them say: Our Lord, forgive us and our brethren who believed before us, and do not let there be any ill feeling in our hearts towards those who believe. Our Lord, verily You are Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

• 11. Have you not seen those who are hypocrites saying to their fellow disbelievers among the People of the Book: If you are expelled, we will leave with you, and we will never obey anyone concerning you, and if you are attacked, we will surely come to your aid? But Allah bears witness that they are indeed liars.
• 12. If they are expelled, they will not leave with them, and if they are attacked, they will not come to their aid. Even if they do come to their aid, they will turn and flee, then they [the People of the Book] will not prevail.
• 13. Indeed, the fear they have of you in their hearts is greater than their fear of Allah, for they are a people devoid of understanding.
• 14. They will not fight you all together [on an open battlefield], except in fortified towns or from behind walls. Their valour is great among themselves; you think they are united, but their hearts are divided, for they are a people devoid of reason.

• 15. They are like those shortly before them who tasted the evil consequences of their deeds, and theirs will be a painful punishment.
• 16. They are like the Shaytan when he says to a man: Disbelieve, then when he disbelieves, he says to him: I have nothing to do with you, for verily I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
• 17. So the outcome for both of them is that they will be in the fire, to abide therein forever; such is the recompense of the wrongdoers.
• 18. O you who believe, fear Allah, and let every soul consider what it has sent forth for tomorrow. And fear Allah, for verily Allah is well aware of all that you do.
• 19. Do not be like those who forgot Allah, so He caused them to forget themselves. It is they who are the evildoers.

• 20. Not equal are the inhabitants of the fire and the inhabitants of paradise. It is the inhabitants of paradise who will triumph.
• 21. If We had sent this Qur’an down to a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and rent asunder out of fear of Allah. Such are the comparisons We set forth for humankind so that they may reflect.

• 22. He is Allah; there is no god but He, Knower of the unseen and the seen; He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
• 23. He is Allah; there is no god but He, the Sovereign, the Holy, the Most Perfect, the Granter of security, the Watcher over all, the Almighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah, [far exalted is He] above having the partners they ascribe to Him.
• 24. He is Allah, the Creator, the Maker, the Shaper. To Him belong the most beautiful names. All that is in the heavens and on earth glorifies Him, for He is the Almighty, Most Wise.
