Where Does Juz 5 Start?

Juz 5 starts from Surah Nisaa’ verse 24. It contains most part of surah Nisaa’. It is called juz Wal muhsinatu. The verse talks about forbidding women already married, except for female slaves. The Ayah means, you are prohibited from marrying women who are already married.

The first ayat in juz 5 is:

And [also prohibited to you are all] married women except those your right hands possess. [This is] the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are [all others] beyond these, [provided] that you seek them [in marriage] with [gifts from] your property, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse. So for whatever you enjoy [of marriage] from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation. And there is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree to beyond the obligation. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.

Summary Of Quran Juz 5

The fifth Juz begins by declaring that only through marriage can a man and woman enjoy intimacy and a loving relationship.

Marriage is the most treasured relationship, and the dowry represents its significance. Only marry a believing woman, says the Quran.

Marriage is a beautiful institution in which two people share their joys and sorrows. Honesty is an essential component of a happy marriage.

Despite the fact that marriage is a loving relationship, things will go wrong; therefore, how do you heal marital conflict?

The Quran suggests that ‘Mediation’ is the way forward. We are reminded of the purpose of religion while discussing family issues: to worship Allah… Be kind to your parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, your neighbours, and travellers.

Verses 44–57 describe some of the issues Muslims had with the Jews of Madinah. The Quran laments the increasing jealousy and resentment and advises everyone to obey the law and authority.

The Necessity of Obeying the Rulers in Obedience to Allah.

Good leadership is a powerful glue that holds a society together,

“Believers, obey Allah, the Messenger and those in authority amongst you, if you disagree amongst yourselves over anything, then refer it to Allah and the Messenger” (verse 59).

A later verse gives a further reason why the leadership of the Prophet ﷺ was so important, explaining that,

“We haven’t sent a single messenger for any purpose except he should be obeyed by the will of Allah. If only, when they wronged themselves, they were to come to you and seek Allah’s forgiveness and the Messenger too would seek forgiveness for them” (verse 64).

Those who obey the Messenger are blessed:

“Whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, these are the one Allah has favoured, like the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous. What wonderful companions!” (verse 69).

The Necessity of Taking Necessary Precautions Against the Enemy.

Allah commands His faithful servants to take precautions against their enemies, by being prepared with the necessary weapons and supplies, and increasing the number of troops fighting in His cause.

Encouraging Jihad to Defend the Oppressed.

Allah encouraged His believing servants to perform Jihad in His cause and to strive hard to save the oppressed Muslims in Makkah, men, women and children who were restless because of having to remain there. (Verse 75)

Obeying the Messenger is Obeying Allah.

Allah states that whoever obeys His servant and Messenger, Muhammad, obeys Allah; and whoever disobeys him, disobeys Allah. Verily, whatever the Messenger utters is not of his own desire, but a revelation inspired to him. (Verse 80)

The Qur’an is True

Allah commands them to contemplate about the Qur’an and forbids them from ignoring it, or ignoring its wise meanings and eloquent words.

Allah states that there are no inconsistencies, contradictions, conflicting statements or discrepancies in the Qur’an, because it is a revelation from the Most-Wise, Worthy of all praise. Therefore, the Qur’an is the truth coming from the Truth, Allah. (Verse 82)

Greeting with the Salam is a Sign of Islam.

The Encouragement to Seek Allah’s Forgiveness, and Warning those who Falsely Accuse Innocent People .

Allah emphasizes His generosity and kindness, in that He forgives whoever repents to Him from whatever evil they commit.

Success is Only Achieved by Performing Righteous Deeds, not Wishful Thinking

Main Theme of This Juz 5

The title of the fourth chapter of the Qur’an (An Nisaa) means “Women.” It deals with many issues regarding women, family life, marriage, and divorce. Chronologically, the chapter also falls shortly after the Muslims’ defeat at the Battle of Uhud.

One theme is continued from the previous section: the relationship between Muslims and the “People of the Book” (i.e., Christians and Jews).

The Quran warns Muslims not to follow in the footsteps of those who divided their faith, added things to it, and went astray from the teachings of their prophets.

Protocols for divorce are also explained, including a series of steps which ensure the rights of both husband and wife.

A major theme of this section is the unity of the Muslim community. Allah encourages the believers to engage in commerce with each other “by mutual good-will” (verse 29) and warns Muslims not to covet things that belong to another person (verse 32).

Muslims are also warned against hypocrites, who pretend to be among those who have faith, but secretly plot against them.

At the time of this revelation, there was a group of hypocrites who plotted to destroy the Muslim community from within.

The Quran instructs believers to attempt to reconcile with them and to honor treaties made with them but to fight them vigorously if they betray and fight against the Muslims (verses 89-90).

Above all, Muslims are called upon to be fair and to stand up for justice.

“Oh, you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor, for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you swerve, and if you distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do” (verse 135).
