It was concluded by a verse, so many people have been asking which verse is that.

The scholars have differed and the reason of differing most likely is when they look at the verses and the context or the topic it was revealed in.

For example, some of the scholars said that the verse which was revealed in chapter 5, Surat Al Ma’idah is the last words of Quran.

This was given to the prophet SAW on the 10th year of Hijra, in the farewell Hajj, and on the day of Arafah.

According to Sahabas, it was on Friday and when Prophet was preaching them.

The Jews told Omar, may Allah be pleased with him that this ayah if it were to be revealed to us we would have made that as Eid, because it is so immense and powerful.

So some scholar said that this was the last ayat because the Dean was completed.

Other scholars said, no, the ayah in Surat Annisa, where Allah Azzawajal reveals at the end what is the ruling over kilala, the man who died and not leaving a son or a daughter, nor a father nor mother, how is he to be inherited etc so this was the last to be revealed in inheritance.

Last Words Of Quran

The most likely and authentic opinion of scholars is that the last words of Quran is in surat al-baqara where Allah Azzawajal says,

And fear the day when you will be brought back to Allah. Then every soul will be paid in full for what it earned, and none will be wronged.

The last verse to be revealed is in Surah al-Baqarah (Surah 2: Verse 281) in which Allah reminds mankind that they will be returned to Him.

Last Words Of Quran

This verse serves as a powerful reminder because of the fact that the entire Qur’an, with its stories of the Prophets of the past, its laws and its teachings of worship ultimately result in a person’s return to Allah.

This final message of the Qur’an also allows a person to focus on their purpose in life and understand that they will be held to account for all that they do in this world.

And fear the day when you will be brought back to Allah. Then every soul will be paid in full for what it earned, and none will be wronged.

This verse was one of the last verses of the Qur’an to be revealed, and it was placed at the end of these rulings, commands and prohibitions, because it contains a promise (of reward) for doing good and a warning against doing evil.

If a person knows that he will return to Allah, and that He will requite him for all his deeds, great and small, public and private, and that Allah will not wrong him in the slightest, he will inevitably develop hope of reward and fear of punishment.

Without having this knowledge in his heart, there is no way he could develop that hope and fear.

Allah knows best.
